To better reflect our community, our outdoor classroom was developed in 2020. This classroom includes gardens and animals which assist students to discover the rural nature of our community.
The outdoor garden is utilized and observed by all grade levels and subjects. Each teacher has their own garden bed and visits weekly to make observations. Seeds, seedlings, and starter plants are grown and include a variety of vegetables, herbs, and flowers.
Recent improvements include a concrete floor pergola and table, 5 raised planting beds to accompany the 8 current beds, potting table, storage shed, compost bin, gravel walkways and 10 fruit trees.
The garden area also includes chickens and a rabbit. All students observe the animals and the middle-grade students provide daily care. We also acknowledge the support of our parishioners, who donated the garden “beds” and animal enclosures.
