Upper School is grades 6, 7, and 8. These grades are departmentalized by subjects and are taught with each grade level as a separate class. Students are introduced to a rotation schedule in which they take classes from three teachers specializing in ELA, Math, Social Studies, and Science. Religion classes are every day with Mass on Fridays. Students at this level can also participate in activities that benefit the school and support the faith by being School Ambassadors and Altar Servers.
Preparing students to integrate technology with academics and to be responsible ‘Digital Citizens’ is what we do at Our Lady of Lourdes. Students in grades 3 through 8 are assigned individual Chromebook tablets for use during class and to complete assignments. Teachers integrate technology within their classrooms. Programs such as IXL are used to reinforce skills in the academic subjects of Math, Science, Social Studies, and Reading/ELA.
Students also take part in computer classes that introduce and reinforce 21st Century skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and organization.
